Made in Tel Aviv: The World’s First (and Only) 3D-Printed Fashion Collection

Danit Peleg is the world’s first fashion designer to make 3D-printed, beautiful, customizable, wearable, and washable fashion.
Her history-making journey, which started as a thesis paper at the Shenkar College of Engineering and Design in Tel Aviv, turned into an achievement which has earned Danit international praise.

Danit’s vision was to create a complete fashion collection, including a top, bottom, and even shoes.

She spent months working with 3D-printing experts to find the equally strong, flexible, and comfortable materials for wearable fashion.

Danit’s collection, The Birth of Venus, was selected for Amy Purdy’s dress in the 2016 Paralympics Opening Ceremony in Rio de Janeiro.

Danit was inspired by Sandro Botticelli’s painting The Birth of Venus, since Amy’s story — her legs were amputated after she contracted meningitis at age 19 — represents a sort of spiritual rebirth.

Danit envisions an industry in which designers across the world can collaborate, share custom designs instantly, and print garments without needing to meet face-to-face.

“So if you’re a young designer, you can have a viral t-shirt with millions of people wearing your shirt the and become a world-renown fashion designer overnight.
“Exactly how content creators use YouTube to share anything they have on their mind, the same thing will happen with fashion. Everyone will be able to create, share, and sell their designs.”
